FishFits gives general guidance for home aquariums, not veterinary advice. Our tools give estimates, and we can't guarantee they're right for your tank. You're responsible for the care of your animals. By using the site, you agree to these terms.
General guidance, not veterinary advice
The species data, guides and tools on FishFits are general information for keeping freshwater aquariums at home. They aren't a substitute for advice from a qualified aquatic vet. If an animal is sick or injured, get help from a vet or an experienced fish keeper.
Tools give estimates
Our stocking calculator, compatibility checks and aquarium calculators use fixed rules and typical values for healthy fish. Real tanks vary. Individual fish behave differently, and your water, filter, decor and maintenance all affect the result. Treat every result as a starting point for planning, not a guarantee. How our main checks work is explained on our methodology page.
You're responsible for your animals
Decisions about which animals to keep, how many and how to care for them are yours. Test your water, watch your fish, and follow the laws where you live, including rules on keeping or releasing non-native species. Never release aquarium animals or plants into the wild.
No warranty
We work hard to keep our information accurate, but the site is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise that it is complete, current, free of errors or always available. To the extent the law allows, FishFits isn't liable for any loss or harm, including the loss of animals, plants or equipment, that results from using the site or relying on its content.
Your saved data
Tanks you save to My tanks are stored only in your browser. We can't see, recover or back them up. If you clear your browser data or change device, they may be lost. Download a backup from the My tanks page to keep your own copy.
Links to other websites
We link to other websites, including our sources and shops. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, products, prices or privacy practices. Some shop links are affiliate links, as explained in our affiliate disclosure.
Using our content
The text, data and tools on FishFits belong to us unless stated otherwise. You're welcome to link to any page and to quote short passages with a link back. Please ask before republishing larger parts. Don't use the site in a way that harms it or other visitors, such as overloading it with automated requests.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after a change, the updated terms apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the operator of FishFits is based. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the consumer protection laws where you live.
